  9. 1 tbsp Black pepper corn
  10. 1/2 tsp coriander powder

  12. Tempering
  13. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  14. 2-3 dry red chillies
  15. 2 springs curry leaves
  16. 10 shallots sliced

Instructions to make Tapioca black chickpeas spicy curry with coconut

  1. Grind the ingredients for the gravy paste(coconut,pepper,coriander powder,shallots) into a fine paste and keep aside
  2. Add sliced tapioca,split green chillies,turmeric powder and salt along with the cooked black chickpeas adding required water to a pan/pressure cooker.I used pressure cooker for the same.
  3. Once the black chickpeas,tapioca is well cooked,add the gravy paste and mix well
  4. Cook well till the gravy reaches the required consistency.cook in low to medium heat.Stir in between to avoid burning.
  5. Remove from flame and prepare tempering.Please check for right amount of salt.if needed add.
  6. Heat a pan,add oil,add mustard seeds-and once splattered,add dried red chilli,curry leaves,shallots..sauté till shallots turn translucent to light brown
  7. Pour the tempering over the curry prepared.Mix well and serve.
  8. This dish goes with Roti,chapati,puttu(steamed cylinders of ground rice layered with coconut)
