This is one of the most favourite dish of my kids. Though they aur grown up now..they become a lil kid when it comes to Prawns..
This is a common bengali dish known as Chingri Malai Curry..

Ingredients and spices that need to be Get to make Chingri Malai Curry or Shrimp Coconut Curry:
- 500 gm shrimps or chingri mach or fish, deveined, washed,
- For Marination..
- 1/2 tsp salt,
- 1/2 tsp haldi powder,
- 6 tbsp mustard oil,
- Whole Garam Masala...
- . 1 tejpatta,
- . 1 pc dalchini,
- 4 laung,
- 1 bari Elaichi,
- . 1/2 tsp kali mirch sabit,
- 2 med sized onion sliced,
- 1 tsp garlic paste,
- 1/2 tsp ginger paste,
- 1/2 tsp haldi powder,
- 1 tsp red chilli powder,
- 2 tsp dhania powder,
- 1 tomato roughly chopped,
- to taste, Salt
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder,
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder,
- 2 tsp desi ghee,
- 1 cup coconut milk,
Instructions to make Chingri Malai Curry or Shrimp Coconut Curry
- Take a mixing bowl, add prawns, haldi powder & salt, mix it well, keep it in the fridge for 1 hour.

- Take a wok or deep bottom pan, add 3 tbsp oil, heat it.

- Add prawns, stir fry it until light brown. Take out in a bowl, keep aside.


- Add rest of the oil in the same wok, heat it.

- In goes whole garam masala, saute it for a minute.

- Now add onion, stir fry it until light brown.


- Add ginger garlic paste, also add lil water, saute it until rawness is released.


- Add in haldi, dhania & red chilli powder, mix it well. Add a splash of water to avoid burning. Cook it until oil has oozed out.


- Now add tomato & salt, give a stir. Lower the flame, cover it with the lid, cook it until tomato becomes mushy.


- Open the lid, increase the flame, add Kashmiri red chilli powder & garam masala powder, mix it well. Add ghee also, stir it for a sec.



- In goes coconut milk, mix it. Lower the flame, cover it again, cook it until oil has oozed out.

- Open the lid, increase the flame, add shrimps, stir fry it for a minute.


- Now add 2 cup boiled water, mix it well. Let it boil. Lower the flame, cover it again, cook it till gravy becomes saucy.



- Turn off the flame, open the lid after 10 minutes.
- Take out in a serving bowl, garnish it with chopped dhania patta & slitted green chilli.

- Can be served along with plain rice..
